I’m thinking of buying some cards for my husband since his birthday is coming up, but I noticed that there seem to be lots of variations of the same thing. However, I’ll try to focus more on getting different cards than on going for different variations.

Norman — I hope you do well with your garage sales! I know there are a fair number of collectors in Florida who go searching at flea markets as well. Feel free to drop me an e-mail to let me know what you’re looking for — I might be able to send you a few cards!

I’m 72+ yrs old and just starting to collect cards again. I had cards from the early 50’s thru the 60’s. It was just a hobby then not like the big business it became. In my late teen yrs. I gave my collection to a younger cousin who was collecting too and I have regretted that to this day. He still collects today and the collection is very valuable. I’m retired now and have plenty of time to search for cards and enjoy seeing some of the old cards I find. I’m a huge baseball fan still and love the Yankees & the Cubs. Just starting but have found a few interesting cards already at garage sales. Wish me luck, Thanks again.

So many great resources out there to help the new collector get up to speed.

I’m in the process of reliving my youth by collecting cards …. trying to remember how I collected, how I traded, etc. I do find the variations now overwhelming and somehow in some indefinable way disappointing. Perhaps I’m old school or just not adapting to the modernity of it all, yet. Anyway, I appreciate this article, your blog, & your tweets. Keep it up!
