The Pokemon Team Rocket set was released in April 2000 and contains 83 cards… 82 cards in the base set, plus 1 secret rare card; the first secret rare card relesaed by Wizards of the Coast. Another first for the Team Rocket set are holofoil trainer and energy cards, previously reserved for Pokemon only.

Pokemon Base Set 2 was released in February 2000 and contains 130 cards. This set is a reprint that combines cards from Junge and Base Set… and as a reprint was not well received by collectors.

The Pokemon Fossil set was released in October 1999 and contains 62 cards.

The Pokemon Jungle set was released in June 1999 and contains 64 cards. The Japanese set contains 48 cards, but the English version contains additional holo versions that pushed the number of cards in the set to 64. The set proved extremely poplular with collectors… 1st Edition Jungle sold out within weeks of it’s release.

The Pokemon Base Set is the name given to the first set of Pokemon cards. The Base Set was released in January of 1999, three years after the Japanese version was released. The set contains 102 cards… highly sought after by collectors who want the first appearance (sort of like a Rookie Card) of each Pokemon. There were several different print runs of the Base Set, some being more valuable than others.
