The Pokemon Jungle set was released in June 1999 and contains 64 cards. The Japanese set contains 48 cards, but the English version contains additional holo versions that pushed the number of cards in the set to 64. The set proved extremely poplular with collectors… 1st Edition Jungle sold out within weeks of it’s release.

The Pokemon Base Set is the name given to the first set of Pokemon cards. The Base Set was released in January of 1999, three years after the Japanese version was released. The set contains 102 cards… highly sought after by collectors who want the first appearance (sort of like a Rookie Card) of each Pokemon. There were several different print runs of the Base Set, some being more valuable than others.

This set was released by McDonald’s from November 7th to December 4th in the United States. The 2017 McDonald’s edition, like other sets from McDonald’s, contains only 12 cards. All 12 cards are holofoil reprints from the Sun & Moon series. None of the McDonald’s cards have rarity symbols.
